Brunching at Portello Lounge, West Bridgford, Nottingham

Brunch Review - Portello Lounge

Where’s the best place to brunch with kids on tow?

One of my favourites is Portello Lounge! If you’re local, you probably know it’s the most spacious venue in West Bridgford that can cater for pushchairs.

Upon entry you’ll be welcomed by staff and asked to scan for track and trace, or you can fill out a paper copy.

Instead of ordering from the bar, you can order from their website. QR codes are here to stay for quite some time! Not complaining as it’s so convenient. I’m used to the digital setup due to my professional work, but I can imagine there would be a few frustrations along the way for customers who like the traditional pen and pad ordering system.

I can’t help myself if I see a full English breakfast on the menu. Anyone else the same? The Lounge breakfast includes – Smoked back bacon, Cumberland sausage, hash browns, baked beans, slow-roasted tomato, button mushrooms, fried egg and toast. The beans were a bit sparse, but this has always been the case at The Lounges. Tasty brunch though.

Portello Lounge Brunch

My two-year-old ate off my plate but we also ordered buttermilk pancakes with berry sauce and banana from the kid’s menu. I just had a look back at the menu and apparently you also get a pot of hummus with breadsticks & crunchy carrot sticks included from the main menu, but we never got this unfortunately. Oh well!

I can’t fault Portello Lounge though as staff were friendly (even if we can’t see facial expressions anymore due to the masks!) and how spacious it is for parents and their kids’ baggage!

I’m yet to visit the other venue in the City Centre so another visit is due soon. With such unprecedented challenges facing to the hospitality sector, much like other sectors, I do really hope places like Portello can continue to stay open.
